Soma means the body as a whole – incorporating all of you. Most of us live in our heads and forget our bodies. Why is it important to live in your body? Because your body has a conditioned way of holding tension around the issues that cause you stress, and it is very difficult to change without first letting go of that tension.
Somatic work is an invitation to learn to trust yourself. It’s a path of becoming settled in yourself and feeling more present, open, authentic, connected, and empowered. Your body is the guide on this path. After all, if you could think your way into making the changes you want for yourself, you would be there by now.
